Picketing and letter hand-out

Last week, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, my wife Aradia, and I, stood at the corner in front of the transit station next to the public library in Eugene, Oregon. I held a sign that said “RESTROOM LAWS MOVEMENT” and talked to people while Aradia handed out several copies of my open letter ‘Restroom Laws’. We stayed there for an hour, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM, when students were coming off the buses from school. It turned out to be kind of a rainy day, so we didn’t see quite as many students as we had anticipated, but the event still went really well. We got to have many interesting conversations with people, learned a lot, and generally raised awareness about the subject. It was amazing how many people didn’t realize the full scope of the restroom permission problem in K-12 schools.

The introductory text at the top of the home page for this site is partially a result of a combination of conversations we had that day with people. Thanks to all who contributed their insights! I hope to see some of you next time (soon, in about a week) we’re in town agitating for change.
